INTRODUCTION 

My name is Daniel Jacobs. I have obtained a BA Hons in History from the University of Stellenbosch in 1984 and in 1990 the National Diploma in Archival Science at the RSA Technikon. I have worked for 3 years as an archivist in the Dutch Reformed Church Archives in Cape Town and also for 3 years in the Government Archives in Cape Town where I was amongst other responsible for research guidance to some of the researchers.

Since 1987 I have done genealogical and cultural historical research for hundreds of people and have also in 2003 completed a book on the history of the Vosloo family for Mr. Ton Vosloo, chairman of NASPERS (see Gendata). 

Boekmakierie belongs to my son Stefan who is an Engineering student at Stellenbosch University. I and my other son Malan, who is a B Comm Law student at Stellenbosch University, are helping Stefan to operate Boekmakierie.

HULPBOEK VIR BOERE IN SUID-AFRIKA

Die Hulpboek van Boere in Suid-Afrika wat in 1937 uitgegee is beslaan oor die 1200 bladsye en bevat fassinerende inligting. Die boek is as E-boek beskikbaar. Naas inligting oor die verskillende tipes boerdery is daar ook so 200 of wat bladsye wat o.a. inligting gee oor die maak van kaas, die maak van seep (soos wat die mense dit in die periode 1968-1972 toe ek as kind op Augrabies gewoon het dit ook nog gemaak het), die brei van rieme, hoe mens 'n koelkamer bou (daardie een met die houtskool tussen twee lae bakstene - ons het op Augrabies ook een gehad) en nog vele ander interessante onderwerpe. Ek dink nou ook daaraan dat daar bv. 'n resep is hoe om jou eie meubelpolitoer te maak - dan is daar inligting oor die uithaal van vlekke, die droogskoonmaak van klere. Die doel van die boek was duidelik ook om die armblankes te help ophef - daar is bv. tot resepte in van gesonde disse.
